Illuminati- A secret brotherhood

I was reading this novel called "ANGELS & DEMONS" by Dan brown the other day and came across this word 'Illuminati".
As the mysteries and the secrets of the fictional novel unfolds in and around the beautiful and mysterious Vatican City and Rome, I find myself face to face with the factual and strong ancient brotherhood known as illuminati, means "The enlightened ones". It is believed, that the science and religion have always contradicted and fought with one another. The discoveries in the field of science are raising a BIG question mark upon the existence of GOD itself. Outspoken scientists like COPERNICUS were murdered for revealing scientific truths!
In the 1500s, a group of men in Rome fought back against the church. Some of

Italy’s most enlightened men-physicists, mathematicians, astronomers- began meeting secretly to share their concerns about the church’s inaccurate teachings. They feared that the church’s monopoly on ‘truth’ threatened academic enlightenment around the world. They founded the world’s first scientific think tank, calling themselves ‘the enlightened ones.’


When the earth was said to be revolving around sun and that the sun is the center of universe created a rage among church that used to believe that earth is center of the universe. The scientists were captured, branded alive and killed openly on the streets for revealing the truths about nature. The reason for Illuminati being a secret brotherhood and meeting regularly in ultra secret lair, they called church of Illumination, is the same i.e. safety of scientists.
Galileo Galilee was an illuminates. He was the one who gave the concept of sun being the center of universe.

The Illuminati loved the symmetry and the symbol above is itself a great piece of art. This symbol is described as an AMBIGRAM meaning which is legible 'both' ways (i.e. upside down).

Well, this is not the first ambigram you are watching. Remember swastikas, yin-yang, Jewish star or simple cross. Yes they appear same both ways and are ambigrams.

Illuminati fled Italy because of the brutal killings and purges and went deep underground where they absorbed new members and then new anti-church illuminati emerged. Vatican church denounced them as Shaitan (means SATAN).

Illuminati are believed to be lost in the history now and it does not exist today. There are chapters of history that are very prominent and interesting but are somehow lost to the mankind. There are many more secret and open brotherhood operating in the world which have a very influential history. You just have to keep looking.
