All about C-JET 2011


The B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course was started in the University of Delhi in the year 1989. Delhi College of Arts and Commerce was the first to start this prestigious course and today five colleges of the University of Delhi are proud to offer the same which include Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamala Nehru College, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Kalindi College and Maharaja Agrasen College.

During its short but brilliant history, the course has carved a niche for itself and continues to be one of the most sought after courses of the University of Delhi. The overall goal is to realise not only the professional but the intellectual and creative growth of students and develop a vibrant chord with the media industry.


Delhi University is conducting common test for BA(hons) journalism for all the five colleges offering the course for the first time ever.

Combined Journalism Entrance Test (C-JET) will be conducted jointly by 5 colleges of DU i.e.,

  • Delhi College of Arts and Commerce
  • Kalindi College
  • Kamla Nehru College
  • Lady Shri Ram College
  • Maharaja Agrasen College
on 19th June 2011 from 9:30 am to 12 noon in the campus of MAHARAJA AGRASEN COLLEGE.

For appearing in the Entrance Test for Journalism, the candidate should either have passed or appeared in March/April 2011 in Senior Secondary School Examination of CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Delhi. The candidate should secure an aggregate of at least 70% marks  in his/her XII class examination (65% for SC, ST, CW and PH categories) in best of four papers including English and three other academic subjects as specified by the CBSE and University of Delhi. The candidate should also have secured at least 60% marks in English.

Applicants shall be called for an objective type multiple choice as well as subjective type test which shall be held in Delhi.

The written examination is designed to test the aptitude of the candidates to pursue the B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course. There is no prescribed syllabus or format for the entrance examination. The following areas have been usually included in the entrance examination in the past.

1.      Objective  multiple choice questions on
                  ·         General Awareness
·         Current Affairs 
2.      Subjective
                   ·         Language/Writing Skills
                   ·         Book/Film review
                   ·         Critical analysis of contemporary media
                   ·         Comments/ essay on contemporary issues

The schedule of admission for the course is as under:

1.       Availability of applications forms:  May 20, 2011
2.       Last day for the submission of application forms:  June 5, 2011
3.       Date of Entrance test  (C-JET):   June 19,2011(Sunday) 9:30am-12 Noon
4.       Declaration of results of written test:   June 29, 2011 
5.       Interview:July 2, 2011 to July 8, 2011
6.       Declaration of final result:  July 11,2011 
7.       1st Counselling and admission: July 14, 2011 to July 16, 2011
8.       2nd Counselling and admission: July 18, 2011 to July 20, 2011
9.    3rd Counselling and admission (if required):  July  21, 2011 to July 23, 2011
